Hey everyone,
We’re listening to a very accomplished young lady today. Ángela is a Mexican-American singer-songwriter who has been nominated for a Grammy Award (2019) and two Latin Grammy Awards (2018). Her father and brother are famous musicians too; in fact, her family is dubbed “The Aguilar Dynasty”.
I love the black-and-white aesthetics in this video. In fact, some of the scenes, like the one where a relative ties a necklace on Ángela, remind me of something I might have seen in an issue of National Geographic back in the 90s.
The lyrics lose some of their charms when translated to English:
Wherever they see me, walking through life smiling
And it still hurts me that the deception goes for the year
It does not feel different
Is that there are things that just cannot be overcome
Of wanting, it is clear that I would like
But I never suffered so much for love, oh
An enjoyable track nonetheless!
Nikhil.
Oooh—sad story. Beautiful voice!
And yet with the Mariachi background it sounds like a happy song, without the gunshots. Love the two trees at the end of the video
