Hey folks,
Good morning (or evening) and welcome to your Monday track selection: an electronic dance banger from Kosovar-Albanian musician, Era Istrefi. This was on my playlist all through 2017.
The song, sung mostly in Albanian, has many of the characteristics of a smash hit: an infectious chorus, a hint of autotune, references to smoking blunts, the high spender life, and of course, sexual innuendo (Transl: Nothing's sweet like my honey/That you'll have to lick before you can taste).
The video was shot in Brezovica in late December 2015 and we see Istrefi in her signature flamingo-pink-on-steroids winter jacket, adorned with swag (chains, rings, and a lock). There’s confidence in her strut, poise in her dance, and the snaps of fingers in the background.
There is an official English version, which I’ll let you discover for yourself on YouTube or the music platform of your choice. For me, the Albanian original is the real deal.
I hope you liked this track! See you later this week!

P.S. If you ever forget the name of this track, searching “Pink hair winter jacket song” will help.
Technically, it should be “pink hair winter jacket song”. However, Google refuses to play ball and tosses up Marty Robbins instead. Oh well, I tried. 🤨

When I closed my eyes to listen, the reggae vibe made me think of a yacht, sunglasses, whitewashed sand and intensely blue sky and sea. Quite the opposite of her video imagery!
