Hey folks,
Welcome to the last month before your new year's resolutions kick in!
I was in a contemplative mood these last couple of days and thought a hard-hitting singer-songwriter track would do the trick.
Lucy Dacus is a talented artist from Virginia, and this track, VBS (Vacation Bible School) talks of her Christian upbringing and a boyfriend she had there.
Sedentary secrets like peach pits in your gut
Locked away like jam jars in the cellar of your heart
Waiting to be tasted and ultimately wasted
You were gonna win me over from the start
Lucy explained that the song revolved around her efforts to bring her stoner and Slayer enthusiast boyfriend closer to God. “I was so lame”, she said when she recalled the memory.
I do hope you make some time to watch this video. Marin Leong, the visual director said that he and Lucy tried to convey the sense of connection and disconnection of the self with our bodies.
See you all on Monday!

“I literally died of embarrassment.” Your heart probably won’t stop beating if you choose the wrong word or put an apostrophe in the wrong spot. But you can certainly feel mortified, particularly if you’re communicating with a client, a potential employer, or someone else you’re trying to impress. Loved the song and the video! (Not to mention the ad. 😁)
I love Lucy Dacus! “Thumbs Again” is a doozy.
