Hey folks,
What’s Curation? will take you out of your comfort zone every now and then.
That’s what makes this newsletter experience unique.
But that’s only from a genre perspective; today I want to share a track with you that will make you feel uncomfortable. Don’t be fooled by the album art—there are no jump scares, loud thuds, or screaming. The sounds you will hear are all innocuous: the sound of flies buzzing, the clearing of throats, record hiss, shifting chairs, soft sighs, a cigarette lighter clicking in vain.
But these elements are assembled into an eerie yet memorable soundscape.
Hauntology, almost.
Like a book with chapters, the track has several pronouncements:
“I’m in a bad place”
“I have no place to go”
“The light has come”
“Let me in”.
Give this track a listen when you have some quiet time. With all the bad things happening in the world, it feels like a meditation on our capacity to cope.
See you all tomorrow,
-Nikhil
I wasn't sure I would, but I really enjoyed listening to that track. A bit like watching a movie with your eyes closed.
Oh, man. That was super sad and haunting. But also weirdly beautiful.
