The moment came, lingered briefly, and I let it go. But I'm sure the right gal is out there somewhere waiting to lock eyes with me at a party. Or at a library. I'm Ontario's Ted Mosby, lol.
Thank you for sharing this EP track of your life! I kept thinking it would be a happily-ever-after Hallmark ending...just goes to show the heart is usually right but rarely followed...
Great story, Nikhil. As we get older and wiser, we learn that the worst thing that can happen (mostly :)) if you ask, is that they might say no. But then the outcome is the same as if you didn't ask, but often the answer is yes, or maybe. You might be amazed at how many yeses you can get.
On the sleazy side, but as an example. I knew a guy who was just and average guy, late 30's. For a time he stayed at a commune where I was living and every night when we were out, either at the pub, or maybe at a gig, he would have a different woman with him, who would come home with him. When I asked him how that worked, his answer was that if he found a woman attractive, he would not only tell her so, but say that he would like to sleep with them. He said, once in a while he got a slap in the face, but a lot of the time, they liked his approach and said yes.
Ooh, nice story. Funny how we remember the one who got away! I still remember this girl who came up and kissed me while I was waiting in line at an amusement park ...
Beautifully told and heartwarming Nikhil. The little remembered details somehow complete the picture, without knowing that the spa water had 'over 40 minerals' the story wouldn't have felt as complete.
PS There's a whole section/memory, with my take on 'first love', in the attached post from my serialised novel, give it a try! https://challenge69.substack.com/p/track-5
My brain immediately spun a story where someone forwards this story to Jill, who is miraculously available and living in North York, Ontario.

How cool would that be!
Feels like a screenplay Nikhil needs to pitch to the Hallmark Channel. :)
Sure to be cancelled on the pilot episode. 😏

I messed up big time, Amie 😩

Wow, this was one of those great stories where I could see the entire thing in my mind’s eye as I was reading it. Great stuff as always Nikhil.
Thanks, Brian! An old memory that I wanted to share.
